Paragonix Donor Lung Preservation Device Cleared
FDA has cleared a Paragonix Technologies 510(k) for its next-generation donor lung preservation system, BAROguard. Paragonix says the device combines its existing advanced hypothermic preservation technology with automated continuous and active airway pressure control that is intended to provide an optimal temperature range and a clinically recommended inflation pressure range for transported donor lungs. According to the company, the device was designed to improve current organ recovery techniques that do not reliably maintain and control lung inflation pressures, particularly when transported via aircraft where ambient pressure changes may expose lungs to elevated pressure.
