Paragonix Kidney Preservation Transport Device Cleared

FDA has cleared a Paragonix Technologies 510(k) for its transportable perfusion device KidneyVault and its use in kidney preservation. The company says the device uses “streamlined digital monitoring capabilities with portable hypothermic perfusion technology to protect donor kidneys during transport.” The device is intended to be used for the “pulsatile hypothermic machine perfusion of kidneys for the preservation, transportation and eventual transplantation into a recipient using cold storage solutions indicated for use with this organ,” the company says. It can maintain a donor organ’s storage temperature between 4°C and 8°C for 24 hours.
