Patel Joins Google Health

Former FDA Digital Health Center of Excellence director Bakul Patel has joined Google Health and its parent company Alphabet as senior director for global health strategy and regulatory. In an online post, Patel says he is “looking forward to learning from the teams in health across Google and Alphabet and helping build a unified digital health and regulatory strategy.”

Patel writes that his work at FDA focused on making digital healthcare accessible and equitable for all. “We are in the early stages of this journey,” he says, “and there is a lot of work ahead. But the potential of applying technology to improve health at scale can mean better health for everyone in our lifetime…. Google’s commitment to help billions of people be healthier aligns with my goal to move digital health and technology forward together.”
