Patient Engagement and Regenerative Medicine Summary

FDA has released the transcript of a 5/6 virtual workshop on “Patient Engagement & Regenerative Medicine: A CBER Workshop for Patient Advocates.” The workshop was hosted by CBER’s Office of Tissues and Advanced Therapies (OTAT).

During the session, OTAT deputy director Rachael Anatol said cell and gene therapy-related research and development is growing in the U.S. at a fast rate, with numerous types of products advancing in clinical development.

The workshop included a panel of patients, patient advocates, and representatives from patient organizations discussing their experiences working with OTAT; a panel with patient engagement leaders from across FDA; and a question-and-answer session.
