# Pear Therapeutics Breakthrough for Alcohol-use App

FDA has granted Pear Therapeutics a breakthrough device designation for its reSET-A PDT (Prescription Digital Therapeutic) product candidate designed for treating alcohol use disorder. PDTs are designed to collect real world data for use by prescribing clinicians and for population health management by payors and health systems, according to the company. If cleared by FDA, reSET-A would join similar products for treating substance use disorder and opioid use disorder. Those products feature three-month programs that rely on cognitive behavioral therapy for treating addiction, according to the company. Patients track their substance use, cravings, triggers, symptoms and medication use in an app on a smartphone or tablet. The data and urine and other clinical tests are automatically shared with each patient’s care team.
