# Pfizer, BioNTech Developing Covid-19 Vaccine

Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech say they could start joint clinical trials of BioNTech’s mRNA Covid-19 vaccine program at the end of this month, assuming regulatory clearance. The trials would be held at multiple sites in the U.S. and Europe.

In a [statement](https://press.pfizer.com/press-release/pfizer-and-biontech-announce-further-details-collaboration-accelerate-global-covid-19-?ref=fdaweb.com), the companies say that during the clinical development stage BioNTech and its partners will provide clinical supply of the vaccine from its GMP-certified mRNA manufacturing facilities in Europe. Pfizer and BioNTech will work together to scale-up manufacturing capacity at risk to provide worldwide supply in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The companies will also work jointly to commercialize the vaccine worldwide, except in China, where BioNTech is working with Fosun Pharma.
