Pfizer Expanded Indication for Cibinqo in Adolescents

FDA has approved a Pfizer supplemental NDA for Cibinqo (abrocitinib), expanding its indication to include adolescents (12 to 18 years) with refractory, moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis whose disease is not adequately controlled with other systemic drug products, including biologics, or when use of those therapies is inadvisable. The drug was previously approved for treating adults 18 years and older.

Approval was based on data from the company’s Phase 3 JADE TEEN trial. It “evaluated measures of improvements in skin clearance, itch, disease extent, and severity, including the Investigator Global Assessment (IGA), Peak Pruritus Numerical Rating Scale (PP-NRS), and Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI),” the company says.

Pfizer says that the most common adverse events reported in clinical trials were nasopharyngitis, nausea, and headache.
