Pfizer Gains Expanded Ibrance Indication

Pfizer says it gained an expanded indication in late December for Ibrance (palbociclib) to include its use in combination with an aromatase inhibitor (AI) for treating HR+/HER2- metastatic breast cancer, regardless of menopausal status — the only CDK 4/6 inhibitor with this indication. “The approval expands on Ibrance’s existing indication for use in combination with an AI as initial endocrine-based therapy in postmenopausal women or in men, and for use with fulvestrant in patients with disease progression following endocrine therapy,” the company says in a financial release.
