# Pfizer Pitching Booster Vaccine to FDA

Pfizer says it is discussing its plans this week with FDA to seek authorization for a Covid-19 vaccine booster shot ([see earlier story](https://www.fdaweb.com/fda-cdc-squelch-pfizer-booster-vaccine-plans/)). Meanwhile on Sunday, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director **Anthony Fauci** said it was too soon for the government to recommend another shot, according to an Associated Press [report](https://apnews.com/article/joe-biden-health-government-and-politics-coronavirus-pandemic-coronavirus-vaccine-dc8479e7ac9b2441c4a7eb5ef50923a9?ref=fdaweb.com). He said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and FDA did the right thing last week by pushing back against Pfizer’s plans with a joint statement indicating that a booster shot is not necessary at this time. Fauci said clinical studies and laboratory data have fully demonstrated no and the information we have, we do not need to give people a third shot,” he said.
