Pharmakon Recalls 1 Lot of Super-potent Morphine

Pharmakon has recalled one lot of its morphine sulfate 0.5 mg/mL preservative free in 0.9% sodium chloride 1 mL syringe because the product is super-potent. The recall follows recent laboratory results showing the product was super potent. “Injecting a patient with super-potent morphine could result in serious consequences including respiratory depression, coma, and death,” a recall notice says. The recalled product was made on 2/3 (lot # E52418EV11C) and has an expiration date of 3/19. The agency has received three serious adverse event reports involving three infants that are associated with the use of the recalled morphine sulfate product.
