Positive Phase 1 Data on New Novo Weight-Loss Drug

Novo Nordisk says a Phase 1 trial of a pill version of its experimental weight-loss drug amycretin found that trial participants lost 13.1% of their weight after 12 weeks. Reuters reports that the result compares to a 6% loss after 12 weeks and 15% after 68 weeks in trials for Novo Nordisk’s blockbuster Wegovy (semaglutide).

The news service says it also compares favorably to Lilly’s experimental orforglipron weight-loss pill, which achieved a 14.7% weight loss after 36 weeks in a mid-stage trial in people who were obese or overweight.
