# Public Citizen Sues Over Drug Price Deals

Public Citizen has filed a suit to force the Trump administration to release the texts of the drug pricing agreements it has reached with Pfizer and Eli Lilly. The advocacy group says it was forced to file suit in the DC federal court because both HHS and the Department of Commerce failed to respond to Public Citizen’s Freedom of Information Act requests submitted late in 2025.

A Public Citizen media [statement](https://www.citizen.org/news/public-citizen-sues-trump-administration-for-failing-to-make-public-its-secret-deals-with-pfizer-and-eli-lilly-2/?ref=fdaweb.com) (contains a link to the suit) says making the agreements public would allow Americans to understand the administration’s approach to prescription drug pricing and to see how the deals affect drug costs for patients across the country.

“\[President **Donald\] Trump** and \[HHS secretary\] **Robert F. Kennedy Jr.** pledged ‘radical transparency,’” the statement says. “Instead, they’ve given us secret deals with drugmakers. The secrecy makes it impossible to determine these deals’ effectiveness in lowering some drug prices. Prescription drug corporations are experts at gaming pricing rules. We need the texts so that we can understand how the deals really will affect Americans. The administration has not responded to our Freedom of Information Act requests. So today, we sued, asking the court to order the administration to make the deal texts public.”
