Public Still Trusts FDA, CDC, Fauci: Survey

An Annenberg Public Policy Center survey shows FDA, CDC, and Anthony Fauci continue to be trusted by the vast majority of Americans. An Annenberg Center release says the survey also shows growing public confidence in Covid-19 vaccine safety and effectiveness.

The survey found 77% of respondents are confident that FDA “is providing trustworthy information about treating and preventing Covid-19,” statistically about the same as the 75% in an April survey and up significantly from 71% in 8/2020.

The results are broken down by reliance on media sources. Thus, for those who rely on very conservative media such as One America News, Newsmax, Gateway, Pundit, Parler, or Telegram, 55% are confident in FDA trustworthiness, 52% in CDC, and 38% in Fauci. Of those relying on conservative media such as Fox News, 69% trust FDA, 68% trust CDC, and 51% trust Fauci.

For those who rely on mainstream broadcast and print media, 87% express confidence in FDA and CDC and 84% in Fauci. And for those who rely on social media such as Facebook, 80% are confident that FDA and CDC are providing trustworthy information and 71% have confidence in Fauci’s information.
