# Radiation Exposure with Disinfectant Wand

FDA has issued a [warning](https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/safety-communications/risk-exposure-unsafe-levels-radiation-safe-t-lite-uv-wand-fda-safety-communication?ref=fdaweb.com) about the potential risk of injury associated with the use of Max-Lux Corp.’s Safe-T-Lite UV Wand because users and those nearby may be exposed to unsafe levels of ultraviolet-C radiation that may cause injury to the skin, eyes, or both after a few seconds of use. The wand is used to disinfect surfaces and kill germs in the home or similar spaces. A recall notice recommends using safer alternative disinfection methods, such as general purpose disinfectants.
