# Record Generic Approvals Last Month

FDA approved a record number of [generic drugs](http://usfoodanddrugadministrationfda.pr-optout.com/Tracking.aspx?Data=HHL%3d%3d256A%26JDG%3c%3b5%3b182%3d%26SDG%3c90%3a.&RE=MC&RI=4380326&Preview=False&DistributionActionID=14324&Action=Follow+Link&ref=fdaweb.com) in October as part of its efforts to improve patient access to lower cost drugs. It approved 110 generic drugs and tentatively approved 18 others, for a total of 128 approval actions. In contrast, the agency averaged 65 monthly generic approvals and 15 tentative approvals last fiscal year.
