Report Details FDA Drug Safety Efforts

CDER Drug Safety Priorities 2020, the sixth annual report detailing the Center’s safety programs and activities, “highlights key safety-related milestones and accomplishments of 2020 and focuses on the programs and initiatives at the core of CDER’s drug safety operations,” the report says. It also looks at the many ways CDER has been involved in promoting and protecting public health during the SARS-CoV-2 Covid-19 pandemic.

CDER acting director Patrizia Cavazzoni says CDER’s Covid-19 efforts included assessing the safety of products used to treat and prevent Covid-19, monitoring the medical supply chain to prevent supply interruptions or shortages of the medicines people need, and taking action against fraudulent unapproved and potentially harmful Covid-19 products.
