ReWalk Robotics ‘Breakthrough’ on Home Exo-suit

FDA has granted ReWalk Robotics a breakthrough device designation for its ReBoot, a lightweight, battery-powered orthotic exo-suit intended to assist ambulatory functions in individuals with reduced ankle function related to neurological injuries, such as stroke. The device is a customizable and personalized for home and community use, according to the company. An earlier version, ReStore, gained FDA clearance in 2019 for use in the rehabilitation setting.

ReBoot is intended to work in conjunction with the muscles of the affected leg to assist individuals not only with maintaining safe foot positioning but also with pushing off the ground to improve their gait, according to the company. ReWalk says it is finalizing the device’s design and development and will proceed to clinical studies required for FDA clearance.
