# ‘Rogue’ FDA Employees Move to Protect Inspection Info

The “rogue” FDA employees ([see earlier story](https://www.fdaweb.com/fda-rogue-twitter-account-aims-to-keep-info-flowing/)) running an alternative Twitter handle — @alt\_fda — have uploaded to the cloud an archive of inspection citations that date back to FY 2006 because they fear the data sets could be removed from FDA’s Web site. In a 2/2 Twitter post, @alt\_fda said: “We are not worried about their destruction, just them needing a FoIA to get them again. Obama made them fully public.” They noted the data sets have been uploaded to Google’s cloud.

For now, the data sets are [still posted](http://www.fda.gov/ICECI/Inspections/ucm346077.htm?ref=fdaweb.com) on FDA’s Web site. The employees note that there have been “pushes” by the pharmaceuitical and food industries to “hide” them.

  
According to the agency, these data sets were released to “improve the public’s understanding of how the FDA works to protect the public health, provide the public with a rationale for the Agency’s enforcement actions, and to help inform public and industry decision-making allowing them to make more informed marketplace choices and help to encourage compliance. For these data sets, FDA is specifically disclosing citations observed during inspections conducted of clinical trial investigators, Institutional Review Boards (IRB), and facilities that manufacture, process, pack, or hold an FDA-regulated product that is currently marketed. The citations disclosed are associated with completed and finalized inspections.”
