# Sagent Pharma Recalls Levetiracetam Over Sterility Concerns

Sagent Pharmaceuticals has recalled four lots of levetiracetam injection due to container closure integrity concerns. “Intravenous administration of a product intended to be sterile that is not sterile could result in serious systemic infections which may be life threatening,” a [recall notice](https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/sagent-pharmaceuticals-inc-issues-voluntary-nationwide-recall-levetiracetam-injection-usp-due-lack?ref=fdaweb.com) says. To date, Sagent says it has not received reports of any product complaints or adverse events associated with the issue. Levetiracetam is used for treating certain types of seizures.
