SD Biosensor Recalls Contaminated Covid Tests

SD Biosensor has recalled (Class 1) its Pilot Covid-19 At-Home Test due to microbial contamination. “The liquid buffer component in the affected test kit lots was determined to have bacterial contamination,” an FDA recall notice says. “Users may notice a slight odor when the buffer is brought close to the nose,” it says, adding that users should discard unused affected kits. Direct exposure to the liquid in the tube through misuse or spillage could potentially lead to serious illness, it adds. To date, no such illness has been reported. The affected test kits were distributed by Roche Diagnostics to distributors and retailers in the U.S.
