Sebela Pharma Sutab Tablets OK’d for Colon Prep

FDA has approved a Sebela Pharmaceuticals NDA for Sutab (sodium sulfate, magnesium sulfate, and potassium chloride) tablets, indicated for colonoscopy preparation. The product was designed to give patients and physicians an alternative to liquid-based colonoscopy preparations. Approval was based on data from two pivotal trials showing that 92% of patients achieved successful bowel cleansing with Sutab, according to the company. Seventy-eight percent said they would request Sutab again for a future colonoscopy, it says. On the safety side, more Sutab patients reported experiencing nausea and vomiting than the comparator, with less than 1% of these reports considered severe.
