> Senate majority leader **Mitch McConnell** (R-KY) has added to the [Executive Calendar](http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/executive%5Fcalendar/xcalv.pdf?ref=fdaweb.com) for 2/22 a cloture vote on FDA commissioner-nominee **Robert Califf**. The decision to proceed on the nomination came after Sen. **Lisa** **Murkowski** (R-AK) removed a hold on the confirmation following the agency’s decision to ban the marketing of genetically modified salmon until labeling requirements are drafted. Three Senate Democrats ([see earlier story](https://www.fdaweb.com/cancer-advocacy-group-urges-califf-confirmation/)) still have holds on the nomination, but the cloture vote is expected to dismiss those.
