# Senators Reintroduce Canadian Drug Import Bill

Sens. **John McCain** (R-AZ) and **Amy Klobuchar** (D-MN) have reintroduced their Safe and Affordable Drugs from Canada Act that they say would allow individuals to safely import prescription drugs from Canada. Under the legislation, prescription drugs would have to be purchased from an approved Canadian pharmacy and dispensed by a licensed pharmacist.

“Drugs imported under this bill would be the same dosage, form, and potency as drugs in the U.S., but at a significant savings to U.S. consumers,” according to a [statement](http://www.mccain.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=E13A17CA-130A-4FB8-AB24-66BA4D0C176F&ref=fdaweb.com) from McCain (contains link to bill text not yet assigned a number).
