Seqirus Afluria Quadrivalent Flu Vaccine Approved

FDA has approved a Seqirus BLA for Afluria Quadrivalent (influenza vaccine) for use in those 18 years of age and older for active immunization against influenza disease caused by influenza A subtype viruses and type B viruses contained in the vaccine. The product comes in single-dose, preservative-free pre-filled syringes. The traditional seasonal influenza vaccine is a trivalent formula consisting of two strains of influenza A viruses and a single strain of influenza B virus, according to the company. The use of the four-strain Afluria Quadrivalent adds protection against a second type B virus, it says.
