# Siemens Addressing Windows 7 Imaging Vulnerabilities

Siemens says it is preparing updates for four medical molecular imaging products that run on Windows 7 as a result of identifying vulnerabilities in the products. A TechXplore online [post](https://techxplore.com/news/2017-08-siemens-medical-imaging-products-vulnerabilities.html?ref=fdaweb.com) says the Department of Homeland Security reported that the company had identified the vulnerabilities. The department said the vulnerabilities could be exploited remotely and that exploits targeting such vulnerabilities are known to be publicly available.

The post says a 7/26 Siemens security advisory indicated that the company was working on updates and recommended specific countermeasures until fixes are available. According to a Reuters report quoted in the post, Siemens said, “Based on the existing controls of the devices and use conditions, we believe the vulnerabilities do not result in any elevated patient risk. To date, there have been no reports of exploitation of the identified vulnerabilities on any system installation worldwide.”
