Avara Pharmaceutical Services has agreed to acquire an AstraZeneca manufacturing and distribution facility in Reims, France. Norwalk, CT-based Avara is a contract manufacturing and technical services organization providing both active pharmaceutical ingredient formulation and manufacturing, along with secondary formulation, manufacturing, packaging and distribution of small molecule drugs, including highly potent compounds.

Mesa Laboratories has acquired Simicon Gmbh which is located in Munich, Germany. Simicon manufactures both cleaning and biological indicators, which Mesa says will be integrated into its Biological Indicators Division.

Medical device maker EnteroMedics is acquiring San Clemente, CA-based ReShape Medical. Both companies make devices for obesity and gastrointestinal-related issues. ReShape currently manufactures the Dual Weight Loss Balloon, an intragastric balloon designed for weight loss in obese patients.
