**Fresenius** has decided to walk away from its planned purchase of **Akorn Pharmaceuticals** for $4.3 billion after Akorn reportedly failed to “fulfill several closing conditions.” In a statement, Fresenius said there were “material breaches” of data integrity requirements that were supposed to be reported to FDA.

**Laborie Medical** has completed its acquisition of **Cogentix Medical**. Under the transaction, Laborie obtains the rights to Urgent PC Neuromodulation System for overactive bladder and Macroplastique Injectable, a soft-tissue bulking agent used to treat female stress urinary incontinence.

**Proctor & Gamble** has decided to acquire **Merck KGaA**’s . consumer health unit for $4.2 billion. P&G said the consumer health unit will provide it with strong healthcare commercial and supply capabilities that will complement its existing portfolio, which includes Vicks, Metamucil, Pepto-Bismol, Crest and Oral-B.
