**AMPAC Fine Chemicals** has acquired **UniTao Pharmaceuticals**’ active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing facility in Petersburg, VA. The facility includes four plants with multiple cGMP manufacturing lines totaling more than 80,000 gallons of cGMP capacity. It has a long history of producing Schedule II controlled substances, and its capabilities include high potency manufacturing suites plus multiple 100 to 2,000 gallon production bays.

**Boehringer Ingelheim** has returned the development and global commercialization rights of olmutinib, a third-generation EGFR targeted therapy, to **Hanmi Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd.** Boehringer says the decision was based on a re-evaluation of all available clinical data on olmutinib and recent treatment advances made in the treatment of EGFR mutation-positive lung cancer.

**Lonza** plans to add an additional 150,000 square feet at its 100,000-square-foot Pearland, TX facility after it inked a long-term commercial agreement with Bluebird Bio, a Boston-area biotech. The new facility will give Lonza the capability to double the production of current viral gene and cell therapeutics it produces for its customers. The initial phase of the clinical manufacturing and R&D facility is expected to open in late 2017.

**CareFusion** has won a $100 million contract to develop an automated drug dispensing system for the U.S. Defense Department. The five-year blanket purchase agreement is intended to support the need for a comprehensive automated solution is to enhance the medication distribution capabilities of military inpatient pharmacies and hospital/clinic service areas.

**Pfizer** is considering selling its pumps and devices business acquired in last year’s Hospira acquisition. Analysts are estimating that the company could bring in around $2 billion for the device business.
