Thermo Fisher Scientific has agreed to acquire Patheon, a pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organization, for $7.2 billion, which includes the assumption of about $2.0 billion in debt.

WuXi AppTec has completed its acquisition of HD Biosciences, a leading biology-focused preclinical drug discovery contract research organization. HD offers plate-based pharmacology and screening capability, “hit identification,” lead discovery, in vivo pharmacology and other related services.

Biogen has completed an asset purchase of Remedy Pharmaceuticals’ Phase 3 candidate, Cirara (intravenous glyburide), which is seeking an indication for treating large hemispheric infarction, a severe form of ischemic stroke where brain swelling (cerebral edema) often leads to a disproportionately large share of stroke-related morbidity and mortality.

Medtronic has agreed to acquire an option on QT Vascular’s Chocolate PTA non-drug-coated balloon for treating peripheral vascular disease. The purchase price is $28 million.
