# Smart Insulin Pen Cleared for Android Users

FDA has cleared a Companion Medical 510(k) for an Android version of its InPen app, clearing the way for release of the first smart pen system for Android users. The InPen system has been commercially available for Apple operating system users since 12/2017 and it is the only such device paired with an integrated diabetes management app, the company says. “InPen’s dose calculator, insulin-on-board tracking, and dose reminders do all the tracking, monitoring, and complex calculations for users, while also providing healthcare professionals with the data they need,” it says.
