Smith’s Medical Software Correction for Infusion Pumps

Smiths Medical is correcting software used in its CADD-Solis and CADD-Solis VIP Ambulatory Infusion Pumps due to many issues that may occur if the device is not updated with the latest software. Potential issues that non-updated software can contribute to include upstream occlusion alarm failure, unresponsive stop and power keys, air detector fails to start in manual mode, system error codes not displaying at power up, and no audible alarm sound. “The use of affected products may cause serious adverse health consequences related to delay, interruption, under- or over-administration of therapy, or death,” a recall notice warns.
