# Sotrovimab No Longer Authorized Anywhere

FDA says GlaxoSmithKline’s sotrovimab is no longer authorized to treat Covid-19 in any U.S. HHS region due to increases in the proportion of Covid-19 cases caused by the omicron BA.2 sub-variant. An agency update [says](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/drug-safety-and-availability/fda-updates-sotrovimab-emergency-use-authorization?utm%5Fmedium=email&utm%5Fsource=govdelivery) Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data indicate that the proportion of Covid-19 cases caused by the BA.2 variant is above 50% in all HHS regions. The authorized dose of sotrovimab is unlikely to be effective against this sub-variant, the agency says, and thus is not authorized for use. FDA says healthcare providers should use other approved or authorized products instead.
