Spacelabs Healthcare Recalls Anesthesia Device

Spacelabs Healthcare has recalled the Arkon Anesthesia Delivery System due to the device going into a “failed state,” which causes the mechanical ventilation function to stop working. The device is intended for use in hospitals and operating rooms, and it delivers oxygen, air, and nitrous oxide in a controlled manner to various patient breathing circuits. A recall notice says that the firm has not identified the reason for the failed state. During the failed state, emergency oxygen, vaporized agent delivery, and manual ventilation are still available, it says.
