Staska Pharma Recalls Ascorbic Acid Solution

Staska Pharmaceuticals has recalled (Class 1) one lot of ascorbic acid solution for injection (500mg/mL, 50mL vials) due to the presence of glass particulates in some vials. The product is used as a vitamin supplement.

“The administration of an injectable product containing particulate matter may result in local irritation or swelling,” a recall notice says. “The particulate matter could travel through and block blood vessels in the heart, lungs or brain which can cause stroke and even lead to death.” To date, the company says it has not received any adverse event reports related to the issue.
