State of Clinical Trials CTTI Meeting Summary

The Clinical Trials Transformation Initiative (CTTI) held a 5/22 “State of Clinical Trials” meeting for influential leaders, high-level agency officials, policymakers, and key CTTI members to hold “solution-driven conversations about advancing the clinical trial enterprise,” to identify concrete, realistic ways to improve efficiency and quality in clinical trials. A CTTI meeting summary says four key themes emerged from the discussions:

trust in clinical trials is failing;
data are not shared;
trials are getting less efficient; and
site infrastructure is insufficient.

For each of the themes, the summary includes suggestions for paths forward to improvement. “The CTTI team will continue to review the insights discussed during the meeting to inform action items for collaborative partners and future CTTI projects,” the summary concludes.
