Stratus Vesta RF Cannula Cleared for Pain Relief

FDA has cleared a Stratus Medical 510(k) for the Vesta RF Cannula for use in radiofrequency (RF) heat lesion procedures for relieving pain. The company says Vesta was developed to treat pain in clinical scenarios where its Nimbus® RF Multitined Expandable Electrode, which provides a large volume lesion for treating pain, is not indicated. The device features an insulated cannula with an active tip for use in creating an RF heat lesion for pain relief. It comprises three components: a proximal hub, an insulated stainless steel cannula, and a distal stainless steel tip. The active tip transfers RF energy to the target tissue, the company says.
