Stryker Nerve Ablator Cleared for Back Pain
FDA has cleared a Stryker 510(k) for its OptaBlate basivertebral nerve ablation (BVNA) system and its use for procedures providing vertebrogenic pain relief. BVNA is described by the company as a minimally invasive and innovative procedure that targets a key source of this pain, particularly in patients with specific MRI findings.
The procedure offers a significant improvement for patients, the company says, potentially avoiding more invasive treatments like surgery. The device’s key features include the ability to create a 1 cm lesion in seven minutes, a steerable curved introducer for precise targeting, and microinfusion technology that maintains hydration to reduce impedance errors and prevent tissue charring, it says.
