Sun Recalls 1 Batch of Doxorubicin HCl

FDA says Sun Pharma is recalling one batch of 675 vials of DOXOrubicin hydrochloride liposome injection 50mg/25mL with an expiration date of 5/2027. An agency notice says the batch was recalled on 5/13 due to the detection of glass particles in some vials during production.

A Sun statement included in the agency notice says that to date, the company has not received any reports of adverse events related to the recalled batch.

“Sun Pharma has thoroughly investigated the source of the problem and has taken corrective and preventive actions,” the company says.

Doxorubicin HCl liposome injection is indicated for ovarian cancer, AIDS-related Kaposi sarcoma, and multiple myeloma, the statement says.
