Sunrise At-Home Sleep Apnea Test Cleared

FDA has cleared a 510(k) submitted by Belgium-based Sunrise for its second generation at-home sleep apnea test that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to aid in diagnosing obstructive sleep apnea and sleep-related breathing disorders. The device is intended to measure sleep through the bio-signal of mandibular jaw movements, which the company says has been "studied for decades."

Sunrise says a lightweight sensor is placed on the chin and records the jaw’s movements. Data are collected through an app, analyzed with an algorithm using AI and made available to healthcare providers through a secured online portal, it says.
