Supernus Wins Label Update for ADHD Drug

FDA has approved a Supernus Pharmaceuticals label update for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) drug Qelbree (viloxazine extended-release capsules) to include new pharmacodynamic data. The updated label (Section 12.2) describes the drug’s “partial agonist activity at the serotonin 5-HT2C receptor and inhibition of the norepinephrine transporter,” the company says. Its mechanism of action is thought to be through inhibiting the reuptake of norepinephrine, it says. Additionally, the company says the label now includes new lactation data for breastfeeding women with ADHD, showing that the transfer of Qelbree into breastmilk is low.
