Tandem Diabetes Insulin Algorithm Cleared for Type 2

FDA has cleared Tandem Diabetes Care’s next-generation automated insulin delivery algorithm, Control-IQ+ technology (Control-IQ+), for use in people with Type 2 diabetes ages 18 and older. The technology was previously 510(k) cleared for use in Type 1 diabetes. The Type 2 version includes enhancements to accommodate input of expanded weight and total daily insulin ranges, the company says.

“Control-IQ powers both Tandem insulin delivery systems – the t:slim X2 and Tandem Mobi – to provide proven, best-in-class outcomes,” the company says. Recent published data on the technology show immediate and sustained glycemic improvements, including more time in range and improved sleep, it says.
