# Teligent Recalls 2 Topical Lidocaine Lots

Teligent Pharma has recalled two lots of lidocaine HCl topical solution USP 4%, 50ml in screw cap glass bottles, due to internal testing determining the product is super potent. The company made its determination based on out-of-specification (OOS) results obtained at the nine-month (Lot 16345) and 18-month (Lot 15594) stability timepoint, according to a [recall notice](https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/teligent-pharma-incs-issues-worldwide-voluntary-recall-lidocaine-hcl-topical-solution-usp-4-due?ref=fdaweb.com). **“**Use of the super potent product would result in a higher than intended lidocaine dose above that intended,” it says. adding that an increased lidocaine dose could lead to the development of local anesthetic systemic toxicity depending on the duration of the treatment and the specific patient. The product is indicated for producing topical anesthesia of accessible mucous membranes of the oral and nasal cavities and proximal portions of the digestive tract.
