Teva Files BLA for Migraine Prevention Therapy

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries has submitted a BLA for fremanezumab, an anti-calcitonin gene-related peptide monoclonal antibody for preventing migraine headaches. The submission is based on data from Phase 3 studies that “demonstrated a significant reduction in the number of migraine and headache days, acute medication use and disability, in addition to demonstrating improvement in quality of life in patients living with episodic and chronic migraine,” according to the company. The HALO clinical trial program enrolled more than 2,000 patients with episodic and chronic migraines, evaluating both monthly and quarterly dose regimens. The most common adverse events reported included injection site induration, erythema, and pruritis, Teva says.
