Teva Gains Approval for new Qvar RediHaler

FDA has approved a Teva Pharmaceutical Industries NDA for Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone dipropionate HFA) inhalation aerosol, a breath-actuated inhaler for asthma maintenance treatment in patients aged four years and older. The inhaler is not indicated for relieving acute bronchospasm, the company says.

The approval is supported by safety and effectiveness data from one Phase 1 and four Phase 3 studies. Currently approved Qvar MDI with a dose counter will be discontinued when Qvar RediHaler is launched in the first quarter of 2018, the company says.
