Tivic Health Gains Clearance for Sinus Pain Reliever

FDA has cleared a Tivic Health Systems 510(k) for the ClearUP Sinus Pain Relief, a bioelectronic treatment for sinus pain due to allergic rhinitis (hay fever). The over-the-counter handheld device uses microcurrent waveforms to provide sinus pain relief. Tivic Health says it is intended to glide along the outside of the nasal passages — the cheek, nose and brow bone — to deliver low current electrical waveforms.

Clearance was based on data from a double-blind, randomized control trial with 71 patients with sinus pain. Data demonstrated that after one treatment with ClearUP, three out of four users achieved sinus pain relief, according to the company.
