TransMedics OCS Lung Solution Cleared for Cold Temp

FDA has cleared a TransMedics Group 510(k) for its OCS Lung Solution for use in transplants using cold storage techniques. The device is indicated for hypothermic flushing, storage and transportation of donor lungs for transplantation, according to the company. It is a colorless, sterile, pyrogen-free, colloid-based extracellular low potassium solution, which was previously cleared for warm perfusion. The solution is labeled with a 24-month shelf life, it says. “Normothermic perfusion on the OCS System optimizes the organ conditions and allows for therapeutic intervention through replenishing oxygen and nutrients,” TransMedics adds.
