Trax Compression Bone Screws Cleared

FDA has cleared a Trax Surgical 510(k) to market its Trax Compression Screw System that offers a wide range of bone screws for osteotomy, fixation, fusion, and fracture procedures. The company says the device comprises headed and non-headed titanium screws that are each cannulated and self-tapping. They are available in 2.0mm to 6.5mm diameters, and a choice of lengths that range from 12.0mm to 110.0mm. A set of non-cannulated, headed snap-off screws is also available in 2.0mm diameter and four lengths (11.0mm to 14.0mm).

Additionally, Trax Surgical says it is developing an orthopedic compression staple to be made from nitinol. “Bone staples have a key intraoperative advantage in that they are technically easier and faster to apply as fewer steps are required,” it says.
