Tripartite Meeting Looks at Antibacterial Regulation

A 9/24-9/25 tripartite meeting between FDA, the European Medicines Agency, and the Japanese Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency discussed further alignment on clinical trial designs for key indications for antibacterial drugs for which convergence has not yet been reached. A statement indicates that the agencies agreed that data from contemporary clinical trials would be pivotal in defining the more suitable way forward. They also expanded the discussions to include antifungal agents, it says. The parties expect to meet again in 2020.
