# Trump Administration to Present Budget on 3/14

The Trump Administration is planning to submit its budget plan to Congress on 3/14\. Capitol Hill Republicans told the Associated Press that they are expecting a skinny Trump blueprint with fewer details than usual because of the new administration changeover and short time new Office of Management and Budget director **Mick Mulvaney** has been on the job. In a press briefing 2/22, president Trump called on federal agencies to be prepared for tighter budgets and responsible spending in FY 2018.

  
Republicans are also expecting recommendations from the Trump Administration on cutting agency budgets and reforming the tax code. Already, the Alliance for a Stronger FDA is [lobbying](https://strengthenfda.org/2017/02/18/the-alliance-sets-its-ask-for-fy-18/?ref=fdaweb.com#more-6370) for a necessary increase in FDA’s budget. Last week, the Alliance completed its annual agency budget analysis and has determined the agency needs $2.8 billion or 3% ($78 million) more in FY 2018 than the amount appropriated in FY 2016 and available to the agency under the FY 2017 continuing resolution. The 3% increase is separate and apart from another $60 million in “off-budget monies” that the Alliance is hopeful will be available to FDA to implement specific provisions of the 21st Century Cures legislation.
