President **Donald J. Trump** said 9/1 he would be meeting later this week with drug company representatives to discuss his recent executive order that would, among other things, require Medicare to tie prices it pays for drugs to those paid by other countries. Reuters [reports](https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-drugprices/trump-says-he-will-meet-with-drugmakers-this-week-over-pricing-idUSKBN25S5KG?ref=fdaweb.com) that a spokesperson for Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America said the trade group was unaware of a meeting scheduled for this week.

Implementation of the executive order has been delayed as the administration seeks to resolve difficulties with the industry, the news story says. Trump said drugmakers had a “real problem” with the order.

“So, they’re coming in to see me, and we expect to get a very substantial price reduction in prescription drugs, which has never been done before,” Trump told reporters as he boarded Air Force One. “They’re coming … this week.”
